Proper Flags Care
If you take good care of your custom made flag , you’ll have it to fly high for years to come
How long should a custom made flag last ?
This is a very common question, the longevity of a custom flag depends on how it is made, where it is flown and in what weather conditions. This makes predicting the longevity of a cutom flag very difficult. Flags are perishable items, the colors will start to fade and the flag will begin to fray. Even the strongest flags cannot be flown for long in strong winds without deteriorating.
The weather condititions is the main factor that determines the longevity of a flag . SUN, RAIN, WIND, SNOW and ICE all will weaken the flag fabrics and threads.
Your custom flag will be made with our all weather fabric such as polyester. All hems should be turned back twice, secured with 2 rows of lock stitching on the fly end. Our polyester flag will last approximately 90 days based on daily display, but not during periods of inclement weather. In some cases a polyester flag displayed 24 hours a day may only last a quarter of that time. Therefore a longevity of approximately 22 days is suggested.
Here are some suggestions to help you enjoy your new custom made flags or custom banners longer :
• Do not expose your custom made flag to rain, snow or exceptionally high winds ; these forces of nature can shorten a flag’s life considerably.
• Never fold or roll-up a wet or damp flag, it should be carefully spread out and allowed to dry completely.
• Clean your flags regularly to keep your custom made flag or custom banner richen color looking bright.
• When the flag gets dirty and needs minor repairs, take it down, repairs and then wash it.
• Do not let your custom flag or custom banner stand in the washing water as the colours may run. Hang to dry or tumble dry immediately on “air cycle”.
• Bring your custom made flag in at night, this would double the life expectancy of the flag.
We recommend that when you order flags, you order them in pairs instead of one piece as it is very difficult to predict the life expectancy of a flag due to climatic conditions and the number of hours you fly your flag from your flagpole.
